The intricate design of this 19th century kilim is woven in slit weave, and its detailed patterning is characteristic of most Erzurum prayer kilims. The seven points where the body of the devotee touches the kilim are well defined: the places for the hands are on the red ground; the large hexagonal motifs positioning the forehead and knees, and the triangular emblems for the feet are contained within the blue/green field. Very classic. Very beautiful. Wool on wool hand woven construction, natural dyes.
