The boteh pattern (paisley) in diagonal rows is typical of the region in Persia (Iran) near the Caucasian border. Note the stunning array of colorful botehs which in their way relate to designs from the Caucasus. Material is wool on cotton and colors remain strong despite a worn condition of the field. The rug is approximately 70 years old.
