This carpet is a duplicate of a very old and classic design from the Konya area of Turkey.  It is worn and heavily repaired but its remarkable beauty remains clear and distinct.  The palette is faded suggesting chemical dyes were used to make this copy.  The star symbols inside and below the white boxes are typical of this region
