Very old storage bag from Eastern Anatolia,
Bag is hand crafted with 100% hand spun sheep wool plus white cotton accents using the weft-faced kilim technique with 2 sumak bands embroidered across the face. Approximately 85 years old Bands contain a total of 10 hexagonal medallions representing stylized spiders with hooks motif, “evil eye” is repeated in irregular pattern. Narrow borders also contain repeating “eye” motif. All colors are vegetable dyes. A valuable, important collection piece because of the “evil eye” design and the use of “gold” thread.
